NetIQ Corporation, an Attachmate business, today announced the availability of NetIQ® Vivinet® Diagnostics 2.2, the latest release in its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) lifecycle management solution set. Designed to proactively diagnose potential threats to call quality and troubleshoot VoIP applications, Vivinet Diagnostics reduces the time administrators spend troubleshooting impending service degradation and resolving call issues, thus improving the overall Quality of Experience (QoE) end users have with IP telephony.

Today's distributed enterprises rely on VoIP applications for global communication to drive down expenses and improve employee productivity. However, end users still have little tolerance for poor call quality and unreliable service. For that reason, VoIP administrators rely on tools like Vivinet Diagnostics to automatically identify potential issues—high CPU utilization, delay, jitter, insufficient bandwidth and network congestion—which negatively impact end user call experience.

The Vivinet Diagnostics technology analyzes the network path between the caller and the called party while gathering detailed router, switch, link and voice gateway performance data. Using its Knowledge Engine and unique VoIP Quality rule sets, Vivinet Diagnostics identifies the roots of network performance issues, including poor-quality voice transmission and dropped calls or cutouts, so that administrators can quickly pinpoint and resolve these issues before call disruption, poor audio or other unwelcome glitches occur.

With the introduction of version 2.2, Vivinet Diagnostics now provides support for the latest release of Nortel Communications Server, CS1000 v5.0, as well as additional protocols to further enhance the exchange of data across and between network devices. Vivinet Diagnostics 2.2 now supports:

  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) v3
  • Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP)
  • Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP)
