NetIQ Extends Comprehensive VoIP Management Solution to Avaya Customers

NetIQ Corporation, an Attachmate business, today announced its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) management solution for customers utilizing Avaya IP telephony—NetIQ® AppManager® for Avaya Communication Manager. With more than 660,000 VoIP phones under management worldwide, AppManager software now monitors, manages and reports on dedicated or hybrid IP telephony infrastructure from the industry's three largest providers: Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) and Nortel Networks Corporation (NYSE:NT), all from a single console view.

Avaya Communication Manager organizes and routes voice, data, image, and video transmissions and connects to private and public telephone networks, Ethernet LANs, ATM networks and the Internet. AppManager now supports Avaya's integrated communications platform with event monitoring to reflect the server's overall health and availability and gathers real-time data to measure call quality metrics, service levels and overall performance. With the AppManager reporting capabilities, administrators can quickly define and discern usage trends to support capacity planning exercises while helping administrators better monitor and manage their VoIP applications.

NetIQ Vivinet® Assessor complements AppManager for Avaya Communication Manager by allowing administrators to properly assess their network pre- or post-deployment so that it is optimally configured for VoIP. Vivinet Assessor determines the impact of adding converged voice and data streams to overall system performance and end-user experience with VoIP applications. Resulting data is subsequently detailed in reports that identify what network upgrades, if any, are needed to ensure the best voice quality and overall end-user Quality of Experience.
