NetIQ Unveils First Integrated Systems and Security Management Solution for VoIP
New NetIQ VoIP Security Solution Addresses Organizations’ Security Concerns around VoIP Deployments
SAN JOSE, Calif.
NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of integrated systems and security management solutions, today launched the NetIQ® VoIP Security Solution to address organizations' increasing needs to assure the security of their VoIP environments. The NetIQ VoIP Security Solution enables those using Cisco IP Telephony to improve security by reducing exposure time and protecting against loss of confidential data, and is based on NetIQ's experience with managing more than 400,000 IP phones.
The convergence of data and voice networks brings new challenges to the management and security of VoIP infrastructures. In a recent survey of IT network, telephony and security professionals conducted by NetIQ in North America, 72 percent of the respondents expressed concern about VoIP security; in particular, potential threats such as denial of service (DoS), viruses, worms, toll fraud and eavesdropping.
"As more enterprises deploy VoIP, there is an increasing need for customers to implement an effective VoIP management and security solution," said Elisabeth Rainge, director of IDC's Network Management program. "Organizations need a solution that protects their VoIP infrastructure against security breaches that can have a negative impact on call quality and availability. NetIQ is poised to continue its role as a leader in the VoIP management market with the addition of new solutions designed to address VoIP security."
First Integrated Systems and Security Management Solution for VoIP
The current NetIQ systems management solution for VoIP monitors the health and performance of the IP telephony infrastructure to help ensure call quality and availability. The NetIQ VoIP Security Solution expands upon these capabilities by aggregating and correlating security event information collected from the NetIQ® AppManager® for Cisco IP Telephony product, the NetIQ Security Manager™ product and the AppManager/Security Manager Connector. It enables organizations, for the first time, to both monitor the performance and availability of their VoIP environments and to detect VoIP security threats on a real-time basis. The NetIQ VoIP Security Solution also correlates security events and logs them for audit purposes and for performing analysis and forensics.
"NetIQ is fulfilling its commitment to provide our customers with solutions that give them the knowledge they need to successfully deploy critical applications and services," said Matt Dircks, senior vice president of Systems and Security Management Products at NetIQ. "The NetIQ VoIP Security Solution enables our customers to successfully implement and operate VoIP infrastructures through use of an integrated approach toward performance, availability and security management to protect their VoIP environments. Our VoIP Security Solution integrates knowledge from our best-of-breed product suites, so the whole offers greater capabilities than the sum of its parts. This is what Knowledge-Based Service Assurance is all about."
As part of NetIQ's commitment to VoIP security, NetIQ recently joined the VoIP Security Alliance (VOIPSA) dedicated to VoIP security research and education. As a member of VOIPSA, NetIQ strives to raise public awareness of issues and best practices for security and privacy of VoIP.
