NetIQ Ranked the Revenue and Market Share Leader in the Security and Vulnerability Management Software Market by Leading Analyst Firm

NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of integrated systems and security management solutions, today announced that IDC, a leading IT market research and advisory firm, has named the company as the revenue and market share leader for the security and vulnerability management (SVM) software market for calendar year 2004*. NetIQ was also named by Info Security Products Guide, a leading publication on security-related products and technologies, as a "Hot Company" for 2006 based on its criteria of products, people, performance and potential.

According to the IDC study, NetIQ led the security and vulnerability management software market category with a 6.9 percent market share. The SVM software market, defined by IDC as the merging of security management (SM) with vulnerability assessment (VA), had a worldwide revenue of $1.37 billion in 2004. It is forecast to grow to $3.10 billion by 2009, an increase of 17.8 percent. The study also found that NetIQ was among the market share leaders in key market segments such as Policy Compliance (NetIQ placed second), Security Information Event Management (NetIQ placed third) and Host Vulnerability Assessment (NetIQ placed third).
