Two New Affiniti Services Help Organisations Achieve IP Success
First UK integrator to offer managed services for Cisco Systems & Nortel IP Telephony based on NetIQ's VoIP Management solutions
Affiniti, the communications integrator created from the coming together of Kingston Communications Business Service and Omnetica, has launched two new services designed to help organisations minimise the risk and protect their investment when moving to IP telephony (IPT): a Pre-deployment Assessment Service and an in-service IP Telephony Managed Service, both based around VoIP assessment and management software from NetIQ.
IPT converges voice onto the data network, with resultant cost efficiencies, ease of management and easy implementation of innovative services such as unified messaging and rich media communications.
"The most important issues customers face when deploying IPT are whether the system can cope and the quality of voice," said Gary Young, Managing Director, Affiniti. "The services we are offering provide a structured way of identifying potential problems before they become an issue."
Both services are backed by Affiniti's vast experience in implementing IPT solutions for customers since 1998 in a wide range of organisations, with proof of concept testing centres available as required. Affiniti is the first UK integrator to offer a NetIQ based IP telephony managed service for both Cisco Call Manager and Nortel Communication Server. Indeed, Affiniti has become the first Nortel partner to offer managed services on this technology.
One of Affiniti's first customers for the new services will be Warwickshire Police. The software will be deployed as part of a managed service being implemented this month.
The 'Pre-deployment Assessment Service' offers companies a clear indication of the implications of a move to IP: from the times and places where the system may become overloaded, to offering a clearer indication of what equipment may need replacing in both the long and short term, and actions required to help ensure a successful migration.
This allows a clearer picture of budget implications and enables realistic project schedules to be built based on facts rather than assumptions, helping avoid costly project overruns. Using NetIQ's Vivinet Assessor, an end of assessment Executive Summary report is produced for management, along with a more detailed technical and impact report for technical staff. Affiniti's Professional Services engineers offer recommendations for changes in order to ready the network.
Affiniti's IP Telephony Managed Service, utilising NetIQ's AppManager for VoIP, aims to reduce risk and disruption for organisations with IP telephony deployments. The service monitors the network in real time, measuring quality and performance impact. Problems created by change, including growth or new applications, can be identified and resolved before users are affected.
This managed service is uniquely offered for both Nortel and Cisco Systems converged networks, as well as supporting applications such as unified messaging. Affiniti is the first provider in EMEA to offer this vendor independent service.
The service is available to organisations across the UK with IP telephony using a private WAN service or Affiniti's wide area network services such as Ethernet or IP VPN. The service is tailored to meet individual customer needs.
