NetIQ Security Solutions for iSeries Earn IBM ServerProven Status
Solutions lauded for eliminating security risks and maintaining business continuity
Today, at the COMMON Spring 2005 IT Education Conference & Expo, NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of integrated systems and security management solutions, announced that NetIQ® Security Solutions for iSeries have earned the IBM ServerProven designation.
With ServerProven solutions, customers can select applications running on IBM systems in a real world environment. Customers can also lower the total solution cost of their IT infrastructure with ServerProven solutions by accessing cost-saving offers for companion IBM products and services. Solutions bearing the ServerProven for IBM eServer designation have been enabled, installed, and run on IBM eServer systems by at least one end-user customer.
In addition, the ServerProven status allows for customers to receive significant rebates from IBM and enables Value Added Resellers to pass the rebates onto their customers, which at times, can cover the cost of the third-party tool. The rebates vary by country.
“I am extremely pleased that NetIQ has officially become a member of the IBM ServerProven program,” said Scott Farley, information systems analyst for the State of Illinois. “In our iSeries environment, it is crucial to be able to quickly identify, assess and report on security vulnerabilities in minutes, not days. NetIQ enables me to maintain business continuity across all of our iSeries servers, at all times.”
The State of Illinois is currently using the auditing capability in NetIQ Security Solutions for iSeries to both proactively protect its iSeries platforms and implement strong access controls at both the network and object-security levels. With limited IT staff, it is imperative that the process of locking down, and subsequently reporting on the security of the iSeries environment, is made as efficient as possible.
Although the iSeries (AS/400) platform is considered to be one of the safest and most reliable servers on the market today, many iSeries installations are not managed to the level required to minimize security risks to an acceptable level while meeting compliance regulations. NetIQ Security Solutions for iSeries provides simplified security auditing, vulnerability assessment and security management for iSeries (AS/400) systems.
“NetIQ is pleased to receive IBM ServerProven validation,” said Michael Ragusa, vice president of Worldwide Channel Sales and Strategic Alliances at NetIQ. “NetIQ Security Solutions for iSeries are the most comprehensive security solutions on the market for iSeries, enabling enterprises to simplify security management and automate routine security tasks. The ServerProven designation will foster additional confidence in those customers that deploy iSeries servers.”
ServerProven is part of IBM Solution Connection. ServerProven solutions are identified by an 'SP' next to the IBM eServer system for which the solution has earned the ServerProven designation. Customers who purchase ServerProven solutions on IBM servers can take advantage of special offers and rebates from IBM.
