NetIQ Delivers Operational Change Control with NetIQ Group Policy Guardian 2.0
Anteon uses NetIQ Group Policy management solutions to provide federal clients with Operational Control Management offering
SAN JOSE, Calif.
NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of integrated systems and security management solutions, today announced the availability of NetIQ Group Policy Guardian™ 2.0, a solution which helps companies minimize the risk associated with Group Policy Object (GPO) changes and comply with regulations through closed-loop change monitoring of Group Policy settings. NetIQ Group Policy Guardian is part of NetIQ® Group Policy Suite, which also includes NetIQ Group Policy Administrator™ and FullArmor IntelliPolicy for Clients.
The new version allows companies to quickly identify what GPO changes have been made and how the changes affect both their Active Directory environment and their compliance status. According to Gartner Inc.*, “auditors are requiring improved change management to increase audit trails, enforce segregation of duties and certify that systems function as documented in the most-recent audit.”
Organizations such as the clients of Anteon Corporation, a leading systems integrator that provides information technology and engineering solutions to the federal government and international sectors, are realizing the benefits that closed-loop change monitoring of GPOs provides.
“We have effectively used NetIQ Group Policy Administrator with our clients as part of our Operational Control Management offering to meet three of the four objectives around Group Policy including risk management, service management and policy compliance,” said Jim Sywilok, technical director at Anteon Corporation. “With NetIQ Group Policy Guardian, we can help our clients monitor Active Directory and identify unauthorized Group Policy changes to the production environment, which allows us to meet the fourth objective – Operational Integrity.”
NetIQ Group Policy Guardian is another way that NetIQ is delivering on its unique corporate strategy, Knowledge-Based Service Assurance, providing customers with systems and security management solutions that empower IT with the knowledge to assure service while also complying with legal and corporate policies. New features in NetIQ Group Policy Guardian 2.0 include:
- Closed-Loop Change Monitoring - allows customers to designate and identify authorized versus unauthorized Group Policy changes, alerting customers in real-time of changes made outside of an established change management process.
- Integration with NetIQ Group Policy Administrator - enables customers to launch the NetIQ Group Policy Guardian console from NetIQ Group Policy Administrator, allowing customers to quickly view the details of changes made to GPOs, which is essential for remediation or troubleshooting.
- Enhanced Report Filtering - provides quick and easy filtering of reporting results based on multiple parameters including Organization Unit, Site and GPO.
“More organizations are realizing the efficiency of using Group Policy to roll out changes to their environment,” said Bob Tesh, senior manager of Product Marketing for Security and Administration solutions at NetIQ. “If a change is made that disrupts the availability of a critical application, companies must have a quick and easy way to track down what change was made, which systems were affected, and who made the change in order to comply with regulations. NetIQ Group Policy Guardian provides customers with this information and allows them to leverage the power of Group Policy safely.”
Availability and Pricing
NetIQ Group Policy Guardian is currently available as a standalone product or as part of the NetIQ Group Policy Suite. Pricing starts at $10 per user for NetIQ Group Policy Guardian and $20 per user for NetIQ Group Policy Suite.
