WebTrends On Demand Tops the Charts for Leading UK Music Retailer HMV
WebTrends continues to strengthen global market leadership with its hosted service
HMV, the leading UK music, DVD, video and computer game retailer, and WebTrends, a business unit of NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), today announced HMV has chosen WebTrends On Demand™ to measure and analyze its online sales and marketing initiatives. The company will use this market leading hosted web analytics solution to increase the effectiveness of its online content and improve navigation paths in order to drive higher levels of on and offline sales. HMV joins the thousands of other WebTrends customers in Europe who benefit from the in-depth analysis WebTrends® solutions provide.
The HMV web site (http://www.hmv.co.uk) launched in 1997 and is now one of the UK’s most successful online audio and visual media stores. To increase the profitability of its online presence HMV demanded a web analytics solution that could provide accurate and detailed reporting on online visitor behavior, and which would support its continued focus on customer service.
“It is imperative we offer an easy-to-use, customer-friendly site in order to maintain and boost our online revenue,” says Gary Coller, e-commerce development manager for HMV. “The customized reports provided by WebTrends On Demand detail in-depth customer information, such as visitor spend, visitor history, geographical location and navigation characteristics in order to help drive the content of our online marketing campaigns and ensure marketing spend is justified and effective.”
Using WebTrends On Demand, HMV’s marketing team is now able to gain an understanding of:
- which promotions generate the best return on investment by tracking online sales back to the campaign that originally drove those visitors to the site,
- whether the appeal is strong enough to encourage visitors to convert to a sale, or
- whether multiple visits are needed before conversion.
The insight derived from WebTrends allows the team to finesse its marketing campaigns, site design and navigation to suit the preferences of visitors to HMV’s web site.
Thousands of leading organizations world wide are leveraging WebTrends today. To support its global market leadership, NetIQ has offices in multiple countries as well as an extensive WebTrends distribution network including hundreds of Value Added Resellers (VARs), Distribution Partners, multiple Corporate Resellers and other partners.
