NetIQ Introduces WebTrends 7 - Built to Accelerate ROI through Broader Organizational Adoption
The New Standard for Intuitive, Interactive and Integrated Web Analytics for Complete Analysis and Improved Business Results
NetIQ Corporation (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems & Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced a new generation of WebTrends® solutions at its NetConnect™ Annual Users' Conference in Orlando, Fla. WebTrends® 7 provides a complete view of Web results as an intuitive, interactive solution that is highly integrated with a business user's work environment, making Web analytics more accessible to a broader set of business users across an organization for accelerated return on investment. WebTrends 7 is available as software and as WebTrends 7 On Demand, a hosted Web analytics service, enabling customers to focus on improving their results rather than concerning themselves with vendor technology trade-offs.
"WebTrends 7 is an exciting release because it is so user-friendly, without sacrificing any of the flexibility and power we've come to rely on with WebTrends," said Michael Crowdes, Internet program manager, Royal Appliance, Inc., maker of Dirt Devil appliances. "In particular, the new Visual Analytics functionality makes it even easier to quickly interpret and act on complex data. And, the ability to combine data from multiple sources is a big plus for me, since it eliminates having to rely on multiple analytic tools when trying to get a complete picture of business results."
Easier to Interpret Results:
With WebTrends 7, the new Visual Analytics functionality provides high-powered graphics as an alternative to tables and charts, making the most complex reports easy to interpret. Revealing graphical diagrams illustrate the routes users take, identifying the common drop-off points as well as the paths that lead to conversion. In addition, WebTrends SmartView allows a business user to evaluate page real estate as they simply browse their Web site.
Easier to Discover Answers to Complex Business Questions:
Rather than static reports, customers are empowered with a dynamic solution to quickly and easily uncover answers to their most challenging questions. For example, customers can explore everything from the performance of advertising partners to campaign creatives in one view to easily determine which marketing activities are driving the best results.
"As the Web analytics market continues to grow and customer and competitive expectations demand full knowledge of all customer activity, Web analytics solutions must be easily integrated and accessible within an organization's natural work environment,” said Bob Blumstein, Research Director, IDC. “With WebTrends 7, NetIQ is providing a solution that aims to solve this accessibility issue, ensuring that all decision-makers have their critical web metrics at their fingertips."
Easier to Integrate Web Analytics into Every Day Business Processes:
WebTrends 7 is re-defining the business value of Web analytics by broadening its scope and appealing to users beyond Webmasters and marketing managers to all executives responsible for Web-based objectives. Business users can now have WebTrends metrics delivered where and as often as they want to use them. For example, results from critical Web initiatives can be easily integrated with common business tools such as Microsoft Excel for cross-channel analysis, or delivered directly to a user's desktop throughout the day via the WebTrends Express Results Viewer to keep a close eye on the most critical metrics, or overlaid directly onto a Web page to evaluate the value of page real estate. This flexibility enables business users to easily incorporate Web metrics into overall business planning and improve business results.
"WebTrends 7 delivers on our promise to lead the industry by providing the complete view of Web analytics for easier decision-making, smarter marketing and better results," said Greg Drew, senior vice president and general manager of the WebTrends business unit of NetIQ. "Web analytics has become indispensable to a broad set of business users across an organization and WebTrends is the only solution to provide complete insight via an integrated platform for both software and On Demand service resulting in a single solution for all Web initiatives."
So that customers can capitalize on all of the benefits of the WebTrends integrated platform, the product line has been simplified to consist of three editions, each available as licensed software, and as the On Demand hosted service:
- WebTrends 7 Enterprise - Designed to meet the demands of the largest Web-based business initiatives, WebTrends Enterprise offers sophisticated marketing and business analysis, powerful customization to answer the toughest questions and an enterprise scalable architecture to serve the largest Web sites around the globe.
- WebTrends 7 Professional - WebTrends Professional, the mid-market offering, builds on the Small Business edition with intuitive "on page" Web analytics and new Excel technology for seamless data integration and advanced reporting.
- WebTrends 7 Small Business - WebTrends Small Business provides an industry leading small business solution, at a scale and price appropriate to the small business. The software solution adds the ability to analyze campaigns, measure conversion and evaluate merchandising and content effectiveness.

The new WebTrends SmartReports for Microsoft Excel feature will help me merge site performance numbers with data from other systems - sales metrics, campaign costs, customer support costs and more. It will take ZAAZ less time to produce full, consolidated views of business results for our clients."
"To make it easier for Marketers to understand what actions to take and increase their conversion rates, web analytics must be more intuitive. Guy Creese, Independent Analyst
"Users should no longer tolerate 'report hopscotch'-jumping from static report to static report to gather the appropriate numbers so they can do their job. Instead, to save time and aggravation, they should look for an interactive system that delivers data 'their way'-delivering the relevant metrics, at an appropriate level of detail, in one complete view."
"With the combination of the ability to separate paid from organic Search Engine activity and capture revenue data down to the keyword level, WebTrends 7 will allow iProspect to create more effective search engine marketing campaigns than ever before," John Tawadros, Vice President of Client Services & Technology, iProspect. "iProspect works with many of the world's most successful brands, significantly increasing their online ROI by delivering the industry's most dramatic results through natural (organic) search engine optimization, paid search advertising management, web analytics, and website conversion enhancement services."
"WebTrends 7, as part of an organization's Web development life cycle, will allow us to use our vast experience with small and enterprise level businesses to help clients turn their Web data into measurable gains in an intuitive, interactive, and fully integrated environment. Ultimately this will result in real-time improvements in site traffic, architecture and navigation, and most importantly, profits." Dynamics Chief Technology Officer, Ryan Stolte.
"The SmartReports for Excel feature in WebTrends 7 will allow Technology Leaders to precisely match analytics with the business needs of our clients," said David Millrod, Managing Partner at Technology Leaders. "WebTrends 7's enhanced drilldown feature will save time and improve reports in every consulting engagement we do."
