NetIQ Launches SQL Management Suite 2.0

Latest Release Provides Powerful Collaboration and Reporting Features

Press Release

SAN JOSE, Calif.

NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems Management, Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced NetIQ® SQL Management Suite™ 2.0—a comprehensive solution that simplifies the management of SQL Server production environments. SQL Management Suite consists of four products—AppManager® for SQL Server, DiagnosticManager™ for SQL Server, RecoveryManager™ for SQL Server and ConfigurationManager™ for SQL Server.

New features in SQL Management Suite include:

  • DiagnosticManager provides a "to-do" list that displays SQL Server issues and provides one-click access to deep diagnostic data. This allows database administrators (DBAs) to work with one another's to-do lists and quickly assist each other. The improved tree view in DiagnosticManager makes it easier to navigate through the various product functions. In addition, DBAs now have the ability to show statistics in 10-minute increments and to view statistics by database, on other DBAs machines or on remote clients.
  • ConfigurationManager adds many new reports covering areas such as server properties, replication settings, database security, data dictionary and SQL Server agent job scheduling. It also offers broader international support with focus on French, German and Spanish.

"The new features in SQL Management Suite 2.0 will allow us to better address the challenges of managing our production SQL Server environments. For example, the new to-do list in DiagnosticManager makes it easy for our DBAs to collaborate on their SQL Server tasks," said Pat Mong, senior systems analyst at PPG Industries. "We've been using DiagnosticManager for years and are glad to see NetIQ continuing to enhance it and the other products in the suite."

American Fidelity Assurance (AFA), a leading insurance provider, doubled the productivity rate of their SQL Server DBAs using SQL Management Suite (see separate press release, "American Fidelity Assurance Doubles DBA Productivity Rate Using NetIQ SQL Management Suite," issued Feb. 25, 2003).

"The NetIQ SQL Management Suite is just what we need to manage more databases without having to increase our staff," said Tom Thurston, database administration manager at AFA. "It handles the routine tasks allowing our skilled DBAs to focus on projects that require their creative and technical skills."

Pricing and Availability

NetIQ SQL Management Suite 2.0 is available now and costs $15,000 for a five-server starter pack. A standard edition, which does not include AppManager for SQL Server, is priced at $7,500 for a five-server starter pack.
