NetIQ Customers Winning Spam Battle
Companies across all industries use NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP to stifle persistent, growing e-mail issues

By using the complete NetIQ MailMarshal content security solution, which includes integration and management of anti-spam, anti-virus, confidentiality protection, legal liability protection, security reports and e-mail archiving, organizations such as Business Telecom Inc. and Arnall Golden Gregory are freeing up valuable resources and increasing productivity. More than 5,000 organizations worldwide—ranging from small- to medium-sized businesses to global enterprises—use NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP for their more than 2.5 million end users. In the past four months alone, the anti-spam and anti-virus solution has increased its user base by 20 percent.

Business Telecom, Inc., an integrated communications provider of voice, Internet and data solutions to businesses in the southeastern United States, implemented NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP as a part of its ongoing effort to reduce the volume of spam delivered to its SMTP environment. As an ISP, many spammers often confused the company’s corporate domain with its ISP domain, resulting in undesirable amounts of spam attacks. With NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP, Business Telecom Inc. has been able to block an average of 350,000 spam attempts directed toward the corporate domain per day.
“We were using a very popular application as an SMTP gateway, but we undertook a review to increase our capabilities.
