NetIQ Releases SQL Management Suite 1.1
National Institutes of Health Benefits From Simplified Management and Administration of SQL Server Production Environments
SAN JOSE, Calif.
NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems Management, Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced the general availability of its SQL Management Suite 1.1, a comprehensive solution that provides SQL Server diagnostic and recovery functions, data change diagnostic and recovery functions, configuration management and change history functions and integration with leading Windows operations management products including Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000.
New features in version 1.1 include improved change management and security forensics with the ability to investigate changes to database permissions and database schema, as well as enhanced SQL agent management, extended database and table management, additional problem diagnosis information and integrated training facilities.
"NetIQ is committed to delivering the most comprehensive management solution for SQL Server DBAs," said Kent Erickson, director of database products at NetIQ. "This latest version further helps our customers achieve high levels of availability and performance from their SQL Server databases."
The National Institutes of Health has selected NetIQ® DiagnosticManager™ for SQL Server (DiagnosticManager) to help them with the day-to-day management and administration of their SQL Server environment. "We currently have about 30 SQL Servers, many of which are departmental-based, and one of the first things we’ll be able to do with DiagnosticManager is to run reports on database size and average CPU utilization on all the servers," said Scott Dolin, SQL DBA, National Institutes of Health. "This will help us identify which databases can be consolidated allowing us to minimize costs and simplify administration."

All products in the SQL Management Suite 1.1 are available now. The Suite, which consists of AppManager® for SQL Server, DiagnosticManager™ for SQL Server, RecoveryManager™ for SQL Server and ConfigurationManager™ for SQL Server, is priced at $15,000 for a five-server starter pack.
