NetIQ Provides User-Level View of Network and Application Performance
Six New AppManager ResponseTime Modules Bolster Diagnostics and Troubleshooting, Simplify Root Cause Analysis
SAN JOSE, Calif.
NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure management and intelligence solutions, today announced six software modules providing IT administrators a user-level view of network and application performance.
AppManager® ResponseTime modules extend AppManager from managing systems and applications to managing end-user response time and give additional insight into network performance. As a result, they help ensure users experience high service levels; maintain network and application server availability; and identify the root-cause of any performance degradation. The new AppManager ResponseTime modules emulate the unique behavior of specific applications.
The modules announced today include:
- AppManager ResponseTime for Microsoft Exchange
- AppManager ResponseTime for Microsoft SQL Server
- AppManager ResponseTime for Microsoft Active Directory
- AppManager ResponseTime for Oracle RDBMS
- AppManager ResponseTime for Lotus Domino
- AppManager ResponseTime for Networks
"With these modules, we add a user perspective to AppManager solution's deep systems and applications management functionality," said David Giannini, director of cross-platform products at NetIQ. "These modules emulate the user's experience as they work with software and servers located across geographies providing administrators a complete end to end view of performance levels."
The application-specific AppManager ResponseTime modules use synthetic transactions to simulate performance between client and server. The modules ship with pre-defined scripts to model the typical transactions found in everyday application use. The modules are also deployed in the same locations—including remote offices-as the user population, and function without putting additional load on the server. Exchange administrators, for example, can profile the response time a user in a remote office will see when they open their mailbox to check mail and be alerted if performance falters.
AppManager ResponseTime for Networks reports on the application-level performance of specific network paths. Out of the box, this module includes more than 100 network scripts covering 30 common applications, including SAP R3, Citrix, Exchange, Notes, Oracle and Web. By emulating application flows, ResponseTime for Networks allows AppManager users to conclusively determine whether performance problems are caused by the network or not, saving administrators time, avoiding the blame-game between IT departments and resolving problems faster and more accurately.
Pricing and Availability
AppManager ResponseTime modules described here are available immediately, with the exception of AppManager ResponseTime for Oracle, which will be available May 15. Average module list price is $1,200; final pricing depends upon customer configuration.
