Ixia Enhances its Real World Traffic Product Line with the Addition of NetIQ Chariot Software

Ixia Joins the NetIQ Authorized Reseller Program for Chariot Software

Press Release

NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems Management, Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, and Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading provider of high-speed, multiport network performance analysis systems, today announced the addition of real application-level traffic to the Ixia Real World Traffic™ solution through the integration of NetIQ Chariot software. Ixia is also licensed to resell the Chariot software to its customers through the NetIQ Authorized Reseller Program.

By integrating Chariot into its TXS family of traffic and transaction generators, Ixia offers an industry first-the ability to simulate full scale enterprise networks with a mixture of traffic types including VoIP, Multicast, Oracle and SAP business transactions, combined with wire-speed Layer 2-3 traffic.

"The integration of NetIQ's Chariot software and our traffic and transaction generators is an important step in our business plan to continue offering network equipment manufacturers a best-of-breed test solution while further expanding our addressable market into the end user enterprise market," said David Anderson, senior vice president of World Wide Sales and Business Development at Ixia. "The reseller partnership allows us to offer our customers the best solution for generation of Real World Traffic for Real World Networks, all within the most space-efficient, scalable and manageable platform available."

Ixia's TXS family of load modules features a processor per port running the Linux operating system. A single Ixia chassis can support up to 128 individual TXS ports. The integration of Chariot performance endpoints within Ixia's TXS load modules offers users a volume of application-level Chariot traffic in a single Ixia chassis that would previously require hundreds of PCs, eliminating the need to use "walls of PCs."

"NetIQ is pleased to work with Ixia and bring together two innovative technologies into one robust solution," said Steve Joyce, vice president of Network Technologies at NetIQ. "The combination of Chariot and Ixia's TXS load modules is a perfect match for testing today's application-aware network infrastructure, including routers, switches and firewalls."

Chariot is designed for use by hardware and software vendors in product testing, by service providers in client engagements and by enterprise IT to conduct pre-deployment network performance evaluation and end-to-end performance measurement.
