Former Deputy Secretary of Commerce, General Services Administration Head Joins NetIQ Board of Directors
Public-Sector and Technology Industry Veteran Brings Unique Experience to NetIQ Board
SAN JOSE, Calif.
NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems Management, Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, announced today the appointment of David (Dave) J. Barram to its board of directors.
Barram recently completed eight years of service with the federal government in Washington, D.C., having been appointed deputy secretary and COO of the Department of Commerce by then-president Bill Clinton in July 1993. In March 1996, Clinton appointed him Administrator (CEO) of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

In addition to his government work, Barram is a 24-year veteran of the technology industry, spending 13 years in finance and marketing positions at Hewlett-Packard before becoming the first chief financial officer at then start-up Silicon Graphics in 1983. In 1985, Barram joined Apple Computer as vice president of finance and chief financial officer; he also held the positions of vice president of corporate affairs and vice president of corporate communications. Barram earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in 1965 and a master's degree in business administration from Santa Clara University in 1973.
