NetIQ Announces Promotion and Appointments

SAN JOSE, Calif.
NetIQ Corporation (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure management software, today announced Glenn Winokur has been promoted to chief operating officer, Mark Marron has joined the company as senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Will Smith has joined the company as vice president, Worldwide IT. Marron will report to Winokur, who will continue to report directly to the chief executive officer Ching-Fa Hwang. Smith will report to the senior vice president and chief financial officer Jim Barth. NetIQ also announced today the departure of Glen Boyd, co-founder of WebTrends Corporation and current CIO at NetIQ. Boyd is leaving NetIQ to pursue personal interests.

Glen has been a tremendous asset to both companies, and instrumental in establishing WebTrends as the market leader in web analytics and e-business intelligence. I wish him well in his new endeavors."
Winokur joined NetIQ in 1996. During his tenure, he has led the sales organization through a period of very rapid growth including the integration of the sales organizations of NetIQ, Mission Critical Software and Ganymede in 2000, and NetIQ and WebTrends this year. Prior to joining NetIQ, Winokur spent more than 15 years in sales management at other leading software vendors.
Marron joins NetIQ after 10 years at Computer Associates where he held positions as general manager of Worldwide Channel Sales and senior vice president of Channel Sales and Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Smith joins NetIQ from WRQ, Inc. where he was vice president and chief information officer. Smith has 25 years of experience in the information technology field.
