Granada Interactive to Increase Internet Revenues with WebTrends Live

Granada Enterprises Interactive has chosen NetIQ's WebTrends Live, the first web analytics solution to gain ABCE approval, to gather information about visitors to its TV programme websites.

Press Release

CA

Granada Enterprises Interactive has chosen NetIQ's WebTrends Live, the first web analytics solution to gain ABCE approval, to gather information about visitors to its TV programme websites.

By using the solution, Granada Interactive can supply page impression statistics direct to ABC ELECTRONIC (ABCE), the independent industry-owned auditor, without the need for a lengthy data mining process and with the help of WebTrends Live, Granada has now received ABCE accreditation.

The information gathered on Granada's TV websites, such as the Formula 1 and Rugby sites, will be used to gain a deeper insight into its visitors. These metrics are being used to provide a strong business proposal to potential online advertisers and help Granada sell over 100 million ad impressions per month, including banners, buttons, pop-ups and interstitials.

WebTrends Live provides highly detailed visitor information. In addition to page impressions, other measures it can provide include visit length, number of pages viewed, repeat visits, top exit pages (the point at which visitors leave the website) and top paths (the most popular routes through the site).

Statements

Colin Elms, publishing operations controller, Granada Interactive, said: "Advertisers are not just interested in total visitor numbers, they want to know how long visitors spend on a page within a particular site. Prior to the WebTrends deployment, we had no way of pinpointing how customers use our sites. Now, we can identify critical customer behaviour trends, such as the most popular pages or routes through a website taken by a group of users—it arms us with a very powerful sales tool."

Richard Foan, managing director of ABCE, said: "Now that the PPAi and IAB are recommending that their members have their sites audited at least twice a year, we want to ensure that certification is easy for website owners to achieve. Therefore, we are working in partnership with organisations like WebTrends as they can deliver website audience statistics for website owners to agreed industry standards, which we can then audit. WebTrends Live's partnership with Granada is crucial in helping them to achieve successful regular audits. WebTrends Live is the first ASP service in the UK to receive ABCE approval after a successful audit."

Dan Meub, senior vice president of eServices, NetIQ said: "We are delighted to have been able to help Granada streamline its web analytics programme. By using WebTrends Live, Granada can now not only assess the total number of visitors to its site more quickly, but also tap into their behaviour and react effectively. Without tools such as WebTrends Live, companies may know their websites are popular but they don't hold the key to understanding why. We help them take the blindfold off."
