FEATURES

  • Update/copy/synchronize files and directories
  • NetWare aware speed copy
  • Transfer NetWare trustees and directory limitations between
different paths, volumes, servers, trees, and NetWare versions

PREREQUISITES

  • Win32 (Win9x, WinNT, WinXP, Win2k, or newer)
  • Novell 32 bit DLLs. These come with the current Novell Client

LIMITATIONS

UPDATE will only copy DOS/NetWare information. Long filenames and
Macintosh files will be reduced to DOS conventions.

UPDATE OPTIONS

All options can be enabled or disabled individually.

Option: Copy Subdirectories
Is equivalent to the /S option with XCOPY: The source directory and all
subdirectories will be copied.

Option: Create Directories on Target
If you do not want to create any new directories on the target, but
just handle the ones that exist already, select this option.

Option: Bidirectional Update
Used to synchronize two directories. First, all files are copied
from A to B, then in the other direction from B to A. All other
options apply, as well, but NetWare information (Trustees, IRF,
Space limits) are only copied from A to B.

Option: Confirm Overwrites
Is equivalent to the /Y option with XCOPY: If this option is
enabled you will be asked to confirm each file overwrite.

Option: Move Files
After successful copying the file it is deleted on the source. Use
this option to move or merge directory trees.

Option: Overwrite older files
If this option is enabled UPDATE will overwrite files on the target
directory if they are older that the one on the source dir.

Option: Overwrite Always
If this option is enabled UPDATE will overwrite files on the target
directory even regardles if they are older, newer, or have the same
date as the source file.

Option: Delete Read-only Files if Needed
If this option is enabled UPDATE will ignore the protection by the
Read-Only file attribute.

Option: NetWare: Copy Directory Trustees
If this option is enabled UPDATE will try to establish the same
NetWare trustee rights for the copied directories as on the source
directory (even if no files had to be copied). Even if
‘Bidirectional Update’ is selected, this option will only be applied
one-way.

Option: NetWare: Copy File Trustees
If this option is enabled UPDATE will try to establish the same
NetWare trustee rights for the copied files as on the source
directory (even if the file did not have to be copied).

Option: NetWare: Copy Inherited Rights Filters
If this option is enabled UPDATE will create identical Inherited
Rights Filters (maximum rights, Inherited Rights Mask) as on the
source (even if no files had to be copied). Even if ‘Bidirectional
Update’ is selected, this option will only be applied one-way.

Option: NetWare: Copy Directory Space Limitations
If this option is enabled UPDATE will create identical directory
space limitations as on the source (even if no files had to be
copied). Even if ‘Bidirectional Update’ is selected, this option
will only be applied one-way.

Option: Only Files with Archive Attribute Set
Is equivalent to the /A option with XCOPY: If this option is
enabled UPDATE will only copy files that have their ‘Archive Needed’
flag set. This option does not change the flag.

Option: Clear Archive Attribute
Is equivalent to the /M option with XCOPY: If this option is
enabled UPDATE will clear the ‘Archive Needed’ file attribute after
copying a file.
