This is a simple collector for the Linux daemon “dnsmasq”, a lightweight DHCP/DNS server.

I developed it during a Sentinel course I attended (Sentinel Software Developer Kit: Building Collectors and Reports which I recommend).

This is a development build, not a production build.

As of now it only supports the DHCP part of dnsmasq.

It handles the following operations:

  • DHCPACK
  • DHCPDISCOVER
  • DHCPOFFER
  • DHCPREQUEST
  • DHCPACK
  • DHCPINFORM
  • DHCPRELEASE
  • DHCPDECLINE
  • DHCPNAK

The development build is in the file Simon-Kelley_Dnsmasq_2011.1r1.clz.zip.

The entire source code is included in the Simon Kelley\Dnsmasq directory.

The collector is tested with Sentinel 7.1 and 7.2.

Before starting it create a file named “MacToHostNameDHCP.map” in the following directory:

/var/opt/novell/sentinel/data/map_data

The collector is unsupported, use at your own risk.
