About ScorpionSting

Started working with Novell NetWare in early 2000's and concentrated on NDS/eDirectory, GroupWise, ZenWorks, NCS, etc for several years before delving into DirXML in 2004. From there, started working with iChain and Access Manager as it was developed with recent experience being with the Sentinel product. Also spent quite a bit of time with the SuSE related OS's (SLES, openSUSE, etc) and have skills with coding languages such as bash, PHP, VB, PowerShell, etc.

We experienced two issues with User Application v4.5 running on Tomcat. The first issue has been mentioned quite a few times on the forums and ncisrael provided a fix for. This is the issue of Compatibility Mode in Internet Explorer where the Header Portlet does not show. The second issue was related to JQuery calls…

For those that missed the unclear documentation, only NetIQ Access Manager is "supported" for SAML 2.0 into OSP. Future releases are planned to make this actual federation (i.e. any IDP), but that is some time off. That being said, people have managed to use other IDPs to provide federated sign on into the application. One…

Consider this common scenario: – The Identity Manager applications (IDMProv, osp, dash, landing, sspr) all running on the one instance of Tomcat, – You want to PAT (Port Address Translation) from 80/443 to 8080/8443 so you utilise common URLs without ports…

If your Enterprise Operations Management solution is the BMC suite, Sentinel can easily be configured to send correlated event information using the msend binary as an Execute Action. Due to Bug # 944428, you will require at least Execute a Command 2011.1r2 or greater. This bash script will allow you to send enough information for…

While Identity Tracking is a powerful add-on that allows you to view an identity‚Äôs activity from a holistic approach, there are some limitations due to restrictions by the event source. For Identity Tracking to function, the event must contain 3 vital pieces of information…

Previously I had posted a script for port redirection on the Identity Server. I’ve since found this doesn’t work too well when the local SLES firewall is enabled. The following is a better solution. First, create a Firewall Service file that contains the necessary ports to open (this assumes the Administration Console and Identity Server…

Remedy ARS can be a powerful tool for managing parts of the ITIL framework. A powerful tool also requires powerful access controls. NetIQ Access Manager can easily be configured to control access to Remedy while still making it less cumbersome for end users. The Remedy login form has a few “gotchas” with the way it…

We encountered a very rare event where the Event Partition Data (index of raw event data) failed to be written to the secondary storage. While the compressed raw data was still intact and written to the secondary storage, it could not be queried as the index of its content was missing. The resolution required several…

These two scripts simplify the management of Sentinel Backups by only keeping the last 2 of each (daily/full) compressed backups. In each file, there are some variables to update to suit your environment: SEND_TO – where you want emails of backup process to be sent to. SEND_FROM – where the emails should look like they…
