NetIQ Cool Solutions is the NetIQ user community, and brings together the technical posts from Qmunity and hundreds of articles from the Novell Cool Solutions site about heritage Novell products like Identity Manager, PlateSpin, Operations Center, etc.
This site is focused on technical articles — come here to get practical advice from experienced product users about how to make the products do what you want them to.
Because this isn’t official documentation, our articles and free Cool Tools are almost never supported. Which means, if you call NetIQ Support for help undoing anything related to content you found here, they won’t be able to help you.
On the other hand, many people have found great value in seeing how other people are getting things done using NetIQ products, and using the purpose-built Cool Tools to streamline and speed specific tasks. We just encourage you to test everything in a non-production environment so you can find out for yourself how well it works for you.
Once you’ve tried something, take the time to go back and post a comment to share how it worked for you — often the comments are the juiciest parts of any good article.
How does NetIQ Cool Solutions relate to the NetIQ Support Forums?
The NetIQ Forums are a fantastic place to go post questions. They are monitored closely by a hardy band of seasoned product gurus called Knowledge Partners, who have to earn their way into that group by demonstrating their breadth and depth of knowledge. That is the right place to go if you need to know something but it isn’t urgent enough to call Support.
NetIQ Cool Solutions is complementary to the Forums. Many of our authors are the same Knowledge Partners who respond to questions in the forums. But on our site, they post articles that are organized in a more traditional way, so they are complete in themselves without requiring you to read down through multiple pages of nested threads to get to the answer.
NetIQ Cool Solutions is also the repository of the Cool Tools, and it contains articles written by partners, NetIQ employees, and power users from around the world.
So in a nutshell:
We hope you will jump in and get involved. If you solve a problem or discover a nifty shortcut for something, take the time to document your solution, and post it on this site. Not only will you earn NetIQ Rewards points for every submission we publish, but you will also earn a reputation as a product guru, and the gratitude of the next guy who doesn’t have to re-invent the wheel.
