Before you install and evaluate Group Policy Administrator (GPA), ensure the evaluation environment supports the product requirements so you can fully participate in the feature demonstrations.

To check for product requirements on the GPA evaluation computer: 

  1.  Log on as member of the Domain Admins security group to a domain computer in a test environment. The user account you log on with must also be an Administrator on thelocal computer and a SQL Admin for the SQL server you plan to use for GPA.

  2. If a previous version of GPA exists on your evaluation computer, uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

  3. Run Setup.exe in the root folder of the GPA installation kit. Note: When you place the CD in the drive, the setup program should start automatically.

  4. Click Check Prerequisites on the 'Setup' tab to identify if there are any required software components missing on the evaluation computer.

  5. If the prerequisite checker identifies missing software, install and configure the software before you install GPA. For example, you may have to install Microsoft SQL Server, MSDE 2000, or Microsoft IIS.
