Situation

How do I configure or check if MAPI Mail is working on an Agent?

Resolution

To troubleshoot the Action_MapiMail knowledge script, on the AppManager Agent (or AppManager Management Server) where the Action is generated:

  1. Logon as the Service Account being used for the NetIQ Services.
  2. Verify that the Profile and Exchange Mailbox specified are valid under the Mail or Mail & Fax options.
  3. Stop and restart the NetIQ Services via the Services Control Manager.
  4. Launch a command prompt and use the following command line utility:

    netiqmapimail

To configure the NetIQ AppManager Client Resource Monitor service (NetIQmc) for MAPI support:

NOTE: If the Action_MapiMail KS is to be run as an MC Action, perform the following steps on the NetIQmc service on the Managed Client.

  1. If your computer is running Windows NT, start the Services application in Control Panel.
    1. Stop the NetIQ AppManager Client Resource Monitor service (NetIQmc).
    2. Highlight the NetIQmc Service and select StartUp.
    3. Under LogOn As, select This Account.
    4. Enter the name of the NT domain account to be used, in the format Domain\Username.
    5. Enter the password for the account in both password fields.
    6. Restart the NetIQ AppManager Client Resource Monitor service (NetIQmc).
  2. If your computer is running Windows 2000, start the Services application in Administrative Tools.
    1. Stop the NetIQ AppManager Client Resource Monitor service (NetIQmc).
    2. Double-click the NetIQmc Service.
    3. Go to the LogOn tab.
    4. Select This Account.
    5. Enter the Account name in a Domain\Account format.
    6. Enter the password for the Account in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
    7. Click Apply.
    8. Click OK.
    9. Restart NetIQ AppManager Client Resource Monitor service (NetIQmc).
  3. In Control Panel, choose Mail or Mail & Fax, and click Show Profile.  Find and make a note of the profile name that corresponds to the NT Account being used for the NetIQ AppManager Client Resource Monitor service (NetIQmc).
  4. Drag and drop a knowledge script.
  5. In the Job Properties window, select the Actions tab.
  6. Select Action_MapiMail from the list and click on Properties.
  7. Enter the recipient and the Profile Name.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK again.

NOTE: The NetIQ AppManager Client Communications Manager Service (NetIQccm) must also run as the same exact service account as the NetIQmc service.
