Resolution

goal
How can multiple Exchange Migrator consoles be configured to use a central database?

fact
Exchange Migrator 2.2 SP1

fact
Exchange Migrator 2.3

fix

I. From the EM console Machine.

  1. Install EM on the machine that will be used as the EM console.
  2. Upgrade to at least EM 2.2 SP1 with HF013716, and be sure that both the EM consoles and the databases have the same version of Exchange Migrator installed.
  3. Verify that the 'Date Modified' on the \Program Files\NetIQ\Exchange Migrator\EMA.mdf corresponds with the date the Service Pack was installed.

II. From the Remote Database Machine (this can be another EM console or a Microsoft SQL Sever install).

  1. Install Exchange Migrator on the remote machine in order to create the correct database.
  2. Upgrade to at least EM 2.2 SP1 with HF013716, and be sure that both the EM consoles and the databases have the same version of Exchange Migrator installed.
  3. Verify that the 'Date Modified' on the \Program Files\NetIQ\Exchange Migrator\EMA.mdf corresponds with the date the Service Pack was installed

III. Go Back to the EM console Machine (You can do this for all of the EM consoles machines)

  1. Run DBmanager.exe from the ' C:\program files\NetIQ\Exchange Migrator '  directory.  Follow the wizards to change the database that Exchange Migrator will use.

note
All Exchange Migrator consoles need have the same version installed due to possible database changes during upgrades.
