Due to the extreme disparities between network environments NetIQ cannot suggest what type of performance you will see in your environment.  The best thing to do is to use a specified set of your test or even pilot migrations, and extrapolate those numbers to the entire migration project.

Use the following contributing factors to estimate performance numbers that could be expected in your specific environment.

  • Size of individual mailboxes and geographic location:
    • Total size of the mailboxes as reported in Exchange Administrator. This size will be bigger than the information store size due to single instance storage.

    • Do you have a large number of mailboxes of average size?

    • How many mailboxes you have?

      • Do you have a small number of mailboxes with a large number of small messages?
      • Do you have a small number of mailboxes with large messages?

    • What is the geographic location of the mailboxes?

      • Is there a WAN to go across?
      • What is the size of the mailboxes across the WAN.

    • What is your Information Store Size?

      • This is not recommended due to possible inherent discrepancies.
      • If you use the information store size, your numbers could be skewed due to single instance storage.  You will notice that the total size of the mailboxes as reported in Exchange Administrator is bigger than what the information store is.
