NetIQ Delivers IT Process Automation to Microsoft System Center Operations Manager Environments
April 28, 2009
HOUSTON – NetIQ Corporation, an Attachmate business, today announced the NetIQ® Aegis® Adapter for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager to further integrate, extend and apply greater automation to this popular management tool. A leader in Microsoft management, NetIQ extends its IT process automation technology to reduce the operational expense and event recovery times associated with Operations Manager, driving immediate cost savings and improved system availability.
The demands for IT services continue to increase, yet IT organizations are limited in their ability to respond accordingly. With this latest NetIQ Aegis adapter, IT organizations using Operations Manager can integrate data from other non-Microsoft tools and Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs) to extend its event management capabilities, resulting in cross-platform event correlation, problem isolation, hierarchical escalation, approval management and auto-resolution.
The automation capabilities of NetIQ Aegis intelligently orchestrate and execute both basic and advanced features of Operations Manager along with other IT management tools to reduce manual workloads, eliminate human error and increase administrator productivity.
Leveraging the latest features of NetIQ Aegis 2.1, this adapter enables IT organizations to:
- Raise the priority of events based upon end-user impact in Operations Manager or other tools, steering focus to high-impact events and reducing downtime.
- Synchronize Operations Manager alert status, configurations or maintenance mode with other tools such as ticketing systems or a CMDB, to reduce integration costs and increase operational productivity.
- Automate Operations Manager administration, such as agent integrity checks or assigning the best management server to allocate an agent based on location and load, reducing the total cost of ownership for Operations Manager.
- Drive alert resolution through progressive escalations, state changes and authorizations, reducing unplanned downtime due to missed alerts.
"Now more than ever, organizations are in need of tools that can have an immediate cost-reduction impact, as opposed to vague efficiency gains—which is increasingly difficult when various tools lack integration capabilities," said Travis Greene, service management strategist at NetIQ. "As a long-time pioneer in Microsoft management, extending the capabilities of NetIQ Aegis to Microsoft System Center was a natural step. By extending, automating and eliminating barriers between this management tool and others, IT can best ensure the availability of business applications and drive cost out of operational processes".
