NetIQ Announces Availability of the Most Extensive Library of Extended Management Packs for Microsoft Operations Manager

ORLANDO, FL.—At the Microsoft Exchange Conference 2001 (MEC), NetIQ Corporation (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure management and intelligence solutions, today announced the general availability of 13 Extended Management Pack Solutions (XMP solutions) for Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 (MOM 2000). These XMP solutions extend MOM to support more than 25 different applications, platforms and third-party systems management products. NetIQ also announced today that it is previewing XMP solutions for managing UNIX (Sun Solaris) and Novell NetWare at MEC.
NetIQ XMP solutions extend platform support for MOM 2000 beyond Windows 2000, enhance MOM 2000 to manage and monitor non-Microsoft applications, and tightly connect and integrate MOM 2000 with other systems management products. NetIQ XMP solutions also deliver advanced reporting and analytic capabilities through ActiveAnalytics, which provide the ability to see multiple key indicators of application performance in one single view, to interactively analyze and correlate performance data through a purpose built 3-D chart control, and to prove service level compliance by automatically publishing customizable reports in HTML format.

Early adopters have successfully deployed the NetIQ XMP solutions for Microsoft Operations Manager in their datacenters. D&E Networks, the single-source provider of integrated voice, data, and video communications solutions chose NetIQ XMP solutions to provide Windows-based monitoring capabilities to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

NetIQ XMP solutions extend MOM 2000 in three main areas: "knowledge" (monitoring capabilities for specific applications and platforms), "platform agents" (extends MOM 2000 to directly manage non-Windows 2000 platforms), and third-party "connectors" (integration of MOM with third-party systems management products). The first 13 XMP solutions shipping today are:
- XMP for Oracle RDBMS. Enables optimization of Oracle performance and availability through automated event detection and correction.
- XMP for Web Services. Provides a powerful Web site monitoring and management solution, ensuring high availability and maximum performance of mission-critical Web sites and services.
- XMP for AntiVirus. Extends MOM 2000 to view, monitor and manage anti-virus applications from Network Associates/McAfee, Symantec/Norton and Trend Micro.
- XMP for Server Hardware. Extends MOM 2000 to provide customers with the ability to view, monitor, and manage server hardware from Compaq, Dell and Hewlett-Packard.
- XMP for Microsoft Windows NT 4 Servers. Offers a complete solution for MOM 2000 for managing Windows NT Server 4.0 environments by providing a comprehensive set of rules for monitoring the operating system and related services.
- XMP for Microsoft Applications on Windows NT 4. Provides customers with a comprehensive solution for managing their critical Microsoft applications when running on Windows NT Server 4.0. The XMP for Microsoft Applications on Windows NT Server 4.0 includes a complete set of rules for monitoring Exchange 5.5, SQL Server, IIS 4.0, Site Server, and SNA.
- XMP for Microsoft Windows 2000 Servers. Extends the integrated management pack in MOM 2000 for Windows 2000 and IIS 5.0 by providing enhanced data analytics and reporting functionality through NetIQ's ActiveAnalytics technologies.
- XMP for Microsoft Applications on Windows 2000. Extends Microsoft Application Management Pack by providing enhanced data analytics and reporting functionality through NetIQ's ActiveAnalytics technologies for Exchange 2000, SQL Server 2000, and Commerce Server 2000.
- XMP Connector for Tivoli Enterprise. Enables integration of MOM 2000 environments with the Tivoli framework.
- XMP Connector for Micromuse Netcool/OMNIbus. Enables integration of MOM 2000 environments with the Micromuse Netcool/OMNIbus enterprise console.
- XMP Connector for HP OpenView VantagePoint Operations. Enables integration of MOM 2000 environments with the VantagePoint Operations framework.
- XMP Connector for NetIQ AppManager. Enables AppManager customers to begin leveraging the power of MOM 2000-based technologies.
- XMP Connector for End2End. Provides an end-user perspective of application performance by integrating End2End, NetIQ's networked application performance monitor product, with MOM 2000.
