David Williams

Join us to hear David Williams' discerning perspective on IT Operations Process Automation and the impact it can have on your business. A top industry expert, Williams will present the latest research and analysis on Run Book Automation (RBA), a fast-paced, emerging market segment, addressing the need to automate IT operations processes to increase IT operational efficiencies.

Although workflow products have been around for many years, most have failed to deliver IT operations process automation. As a result, there is significant interest and pent-up demand for RBA products. RBA products not only assist organizations to establish processes, but they also serve to associate processes with the appropriate underlying IT management tools. Moreover, this new category of products ultimately assists IT operations to adopt best practices and automate processes within and across IT management silos—especially for IT change and configuration, fault and problem management, and the provisioning of the IT infrastructure.

Prior to joining Gartner, Williams served as vice president of marketing at AlterPoint, a pioneer of enterprise network configuration management products. Before AlterPoint, he was director of worldwide marketing at BMC Software. In addition, Williams held a number of executive roles at IBM Tivoli, including vice president of product strategy and product management, responsible for Tivoli's $1.8 billion enterprise management portfolio.
