Charles Kolodgy
IDC Research Director

Charles Kolodgy is a Research Director for IDC's Security Products service where he executes primary research projects and analyzes markets for both vendors and user customers. Product areas of concentration include firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, vulnerability assessment and management, hardware authentication (tokens and smartcards) and encryption.

Kolodgy's perspectives on security products and security markets was shaped during his 16-year career with the National Security Agency (NSA) where he held a variety of analyst and managerial positions within both information assurance and signals intelligence organization.

Popular press and trade publications frequently call on Kolodgy. His comments appear in Time, the Boston Globe, the San Jose Mercury News, Information Security Magazine, BusinessWeek, eWeek, ComputerWorld, Network World, CSO, USA Today, Information Week and others. He also speaks at industry conferences within the United States.

Kolodgy holds a master's of arts degree in National Security from Georgetown University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Lowell (MA).

With more than 20 years of industry expertise, Becker is a seasoned technology executive with strong operational and financial skills, who has demonstrated a tremendous track record of success through his leadership, vision and understanding of strategic market issues.

From January 2001 to October 2002, he was an independent consultant working with venture capital and technology firms. Previously, Becker was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AXENT Technologies, Inc. (AXENT). He was instrumental in leading AXENT from startup in December 1994 to IPO in April 1996 and finally to its sale to Symantec Corporation for approximately $1 billion.

Vice President, Security Management Products, NetIQ

Matt Dircks is Vice President of Product Management for Security Management Products at NetIQ. He is responsible for complete product lifecycle management across the security, administration and migration products from NetIQ. Dircks joined NetIQ in November 2001, following a period as General Manager for the Web Products Group and Director of WW Product Management at Citrix Systems. He has more than 16 years of product management and business consulting experience in the enterprise software marketplace with previous roles at Citrix Systems, Exact Software, Best Software and PowerCerv Technologies.
