What's New?

The following section outlines the key features and functions provided by this version.

Enhancements and Software Fixes

NetIQ SocialAccess 1.0.1 includes software fixes that resolve several previous issues.

The Progress Bar During an Update Does Not Represent the Actual Download Progress

During an update, the progress bar now more accurately reflects the actual download progress. However, the time to complete an update depends on the size of the download and your Internet connection. It could take over an hour for an update to download. Check the size of the update before starting the download. (792997)

reCAPTCHA Does Not Work Until You Restart the Appliance

reCAPTCHA now works without restarting the appliance, regardless of the order in which you configure the Connector for eDirectory or reCAPTCHA. (798623)

If Certificate Name Is Too Long, Buttons On the Right Are Not Visible

The SocialAccess console now correctly displays all buttons, even if the certificate name is long. (800912)

Apply Button Is Not Enabled When Modifying Identity Sources

When you modify the identity sources allowed by an application connector, the Apply button is now enabled as expected. (801081)

Health Is Red After Updating a Server That Has Not Been Configured

When you update a server that has not yet been configured, SocialAccess now displays healthy status for the server. (801814)

User Name and Password Fields Appear on the Login Page After LDAP Identity Source Is Deleted

If you delete a previously configured LDAP identity source, the user name and password fields no longer appear on the login page. (797324)

The Appliance Does Not Work if DNS Is Misconfigured or Unavailable

If a DNS server is unavailable or misconfigured, either during the initialization process or later, CloudAccess now displays an error message where appropriate, or the correct health status for the server. (798825)

Forward Proxy Is Not Working After It Is Configured

Forward proxy is now working properly after it is configured. (815483)

Known Issues

NetIQ Corporation strives to ensure our products provide quality solutions for your enterprise software needs. The following issues are currently being researched. If you need further assistance with any issue, please contact Technical Support.

WSFed Option in the Access Connector Toolkit Does Not Work

Issue:

The Access Connector Toolkit contains an option for WSFed, but this option does not work. (778387)

Workaround:

For this release, the Access Connector Toolkit does not support the creation of WS Federation connectors for the SocialAccess appliance.

Access Connector Toolkit Does Not Provide a Logout Option

Issue:

The Access Connector Toolkit does not currently provide a logout option, though the session does time out after 60 minutes of inactivity. (789303)

Workaround:

Close the browser after you finish working in the Access Connector Toolkit.

Changing from DHCP to Static IP During the Initialization Causes Errors

Issue:

During the initialization process, changing from DHCP to Static IP can cause an error stating services are unavailable.

Workaround:

Refresh your browser and the message disappears.

User Authentication Fails but the Health of the Appliance Is Green

Issue:

Appliance health might be green while user authentications fail. Basic network connectivity is working, but the identity source is not available. (798835)

Workaround:

If user authentications fail, verify that you can access the social networking site outside of SocialAccess. If you cannot, the social networking site is down and the user authentications will continue to fail until the social networking site is available.

Browser May Not Display Error Messages Correctly in Languages Other Than English

Issue:

Currently, the only language that NetIQ SocialAccess supports is English (en_US). As a result, if users specify another preferred language in their browser, depending on the language they specify, they may still see some error messages in English. (813481, 813478)

Workaround:

No workaround is available at this time.

Health Status Indicates That No Time Server Is Configured

Issue:

After you add a node to the cluster, the health status for the node may display a "No time server configured!" error, even though the node is correctly configured. (816968)

Workaround:

To work around this issue, restart the appliance. SocialAccess displays health status correctly afterwards.

Additions to Documentation

OAuth Provider Security

SocialAccess does not attempt to log out users from any of the OAuth Providers. Authentication servers used by many OAuth Providers, such as Google, remember sessions and provide the default option for users to stay logged in. Unless users deselect the option to stay signed in, they are not prompted to enter their user name or password again. As a result, in environments with shared workstations, it is likely that a user could inherit another user's session. SocialAccess is intended to be used only for lightly secured resources, but does not guarantee that identities will be audited and corrected like a corporate directory.
